This program is designed to afford supervisors and workers the requirements and legal responsibilities of being an effective Traffic Control Person.
This course will cover:
1) The Objectives of Traffic Control
- protecting workers
- ensuring public traffic has priority over construction equipment
- to stop traffic whenever required by the progress of work
2) Safety Equipment Needed
- Personal Safety Equipment
- Required Signs
- Equipment for use after dark
3) The Requirements of a Good Traffic Control Person
- What are the attributes required to do the job?
- How do you ensure your own personal safety and the safety of those around you?
- How should you signal?
- How do you deal with difficult drivers?
4) Preparation for Each Job
- What the Traffic Control Person needs to know
- Daily Inspection Procedures
5) Rules and Regulations
- What do the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations say?
- What are the supervisors’ responsibilities?
- What are your rights as a traffic control person?
Signalers on construction site (moving equipment)
Introduction to book 7 temporary conditions (road work)
Upon completion each participant will receive a wall certificate and a wallet card which recognizes the completion of the course.
